Childhood is a critical time to develop healthy sleep habits. Sleep deprivation can cause stress, affect eating habits and much more. To help your child stick to a schedule and get adequate shuteye, you’ll first need to recognize the following signs.

Does your child always need to take naps after school? Complain of tiredness throughout the day? Or fall asleep easily in the car? These are signals that he or she may not be sleeping well enough at night.

You should also be wary of children who need a lot of pestering to get up in the morning. Three or four rounds of wake up calls is too many, according to the Cleveland Clinic.
