Some tips for a better night’s sleep

A bad night's rest isn't just frustrating, it's unhealthy. The reason why it's so important to get those seven or eight hours of sleep every night is to let our minds and bodies refresh themselves from the day and leave us in peak shape for the next morning. Waking up feeling just as tired, if not more so, than the previous night not only starts your day off in the wrong way, but it can build into a habit that has serious health implications. A consistent lack of proper sleep can chip away at memory support and raise your risk for more serious conditions like high blood pressure and heart disease.

If you're having a hard time getting a good night's rest, try implementing some of these guidelines into your pre-bedtime ritual:

  • New mattress: If you've been using the same mattress for over eight years, or your bed just leaves you feeling sore and stiff the next day, it's time to throw it out and buy a new one. A beaten, worn out mattress can impair your ability to sleep well, and our bodies become more sensitive to that as we get older. A more cushioned mattress can make all the difference in how you end up feeling the next morning.
  • Dim lighting: The light from a TV screen, computer or tablet can stimulate your brain and make you feel more awake than tired. Keep these devices off or at least dim their light settings. Use curtains or blinds to block out light pollution from outside to help you sleep better.

Being able to sleep through the night peacefully can make a world of difference for both your physical health and mental outlook. Click here for information on our selection of sleep support supplements.
